Gifted Academy

Established in 2019, the goal has been to lessen the gap in academic achievement for minority boys before they reach high school. The Academy's enrollment reflects 75 students grades 4 - 7 representing 15 different schools and 5 parishes. Participating students take part in reading and writing workshops, financial literacy activities, social skill development, test taking and time management strategy workshops, instruction in the games requiring critical thinking skills.

During the summer, students are engaged in a 3-week STEM-focused academic enrichment camp. We partner with STEM NOLA, LOOP NOLA and Ochsner Hospital to deliver an immersive and intensive summer program. Our program extends into the school year with activities geared to cultivate specific interests. Participants are also eligible for after-school academic assistance during the school year from St. Augustine faculty in an effort to support scholastic growth.

St. Augustine will conduct its Gifted Academy Program from June 3-28, 2024. The Program offers a 3-week, full day academic enrichment and leadership development experience for boys entering grades 4-7. Priority consideration will be given to students who have participated in previous St. Augustine summer programs.
