This is a foundational course designed to create a basic theological understanding among all 8th Grader Students. It covers aspects such as the Old Testament, New Testament, Prayers, Liturgical Calendar, and Church History, Saints, the Church, and its teachings.
The students will also develop a consistent prayer life by leading class with the Rosary prayers which include the Apostle’s Creed, Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.
Students will experience personal growth in their faith through scripture, action and prayer. It also will enhance the students’ knowledge of how those basic precepts are intertwined with the customs and traditions of the African and African-American communities. It will present the essential teachings of the Faith as they are defined by Sacred Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
