St. Augustine High School board members, faculty, staff, and guests welcomed the institution’s sixth President and Chief Executive Officer Kenneth A. St. Charles Ph.D., to campus last week at a reception in the Ray Fritz Library. Dr. St. Charles ’81 is succeeding Oyd Craddock ’76, who returns to retirement after spending the last four years leading St. Augustine through a period of growth and increasing recognition.

Dr. St. Charles comes to St. Augustine from Randolph College in Lynchburg, Virginia where he served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Previously, he served for ten years as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Xavier University of Louisiana.

“I am honored and humbled to lead an institution with the remarkable and distinguished history of St. Augustine High School,” said Dr. St. Charles. “I give you my promise to strengthen and elevate our commitment to excellence.”

St. Augustine Chairman of the Board of Directors Justin Augustine ’76 said he’s excited for Dr. St. Charles’ arrival and the opportunities his experience may provide.

“He is the right person at the right time to lead St. Augustine through the next chapter of our history,” said Augustine. “This is a special community, this is an important school, and I think we’ve found a special person to provide leadership along the road ahead,” he added.

The program included remarks from St. Augustine Chief Religious Officer Fr. Henry Davis SSJ,  Vicar General and Josephite Board of Trustees member Very Rev. Roderick Coates SSJ, President and Chief Executive Officer of  Xavier University of Louisiana (retired) Dr. Norman C. Francis.
