Usually the first words out of a parade watcher’s mouth during Mardi Gras is, “Here comes St. Aug.”  They are referring to the St. Augustine High School band, most famously known as “The Marching 100.”  Under the direction of our legendary Band Master, the late Edwin H. Hampton, The Marching 100 became one of the most renowned high school bands in the United States.

The band has become a successful marching unit by fostering the principles of musicianship, discipline and precision teamwork in its members.  In the band’s history, it has played in the Rose Bowl Parade, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Super Bowl, movies, documentaries and a celebration for Pope John Paul II.
