St. Augustine Announces National Search for President & CEO

St. Augustine High School (St. Aug) announced a national search for a new President and CEO. The current President, Oyd Craddock, has informed the Board of Directors of his intention to transition out of his role in the summer of 2016. Mr. Craddock, who has led St. Aug since August 2013, will assist the board during the transition.

 

Since St. Aug’s founding in 1951 by the Josephite Fathers and Brothers, with the authorization of the Archbishop of New Orleans, Louisiana, it has become known as a leading secondary school for African American males. St. Aug ’s heritage is rooted in the Josephite Society, a religious order founded for the purpose of working in the Black community.

 

St. Aug is nationally recognized for its outstanding success in preparing its students for higher education, exceptional sports programs, and renown marching band. St. Aug has more than 8,400 alumni. As such, graduates are involved in every aspect of school life. With (6) Presidential Scholars, (13) National Merit Scholars and (120) National Merit Achievement Finalists. St. Aug’s alumni have excelled in every field of human endeavor.

 

Board President, Justin Augustine appointed a search committee to spearhead the President search process. The committee includes board members: Demetric Mercadel; Father Henry Davis; Oyd Craddock; Marc Barnes; Darren Diamond; and noted higher educational leaders Dr. Walter Kimbrough and Dr. Norman Francis.

 

Board President Augustine said, “We expect St. Augustine High School to continue its focus on academic excellence and to ensure the spiritual development of its student body. The Board is excited about the school’s progress and we are working on a new strategic plan and capital campaign.”

 

The Board has retained the services of The Hawkins Company, a Los Angeles-based, executive search firm to lead the president search process. Board chair Augustine said, “The firm is experienced working in New Orleans and in conducting national educational leadership searches. We anticipate completing our national search in 90-120 days and expect the new president to embrace the culture, history, and community of St. Augustine High School. The new president will focus on fundraising, enhancing enrollment, and exposing St. Augustine High School to a larger base of supporters.”
