The Family of Caleb Collins and St. Aug Issue Statements Following Death of 2011 Graduate
The principal of St. Augustine High School and the family of Caleb Collins issued statements following the news that the 2011 graduate of St. Augustine High School lost his life over the weekend in Hawaii. Principal Sean J. Goodwin expressed support for Collins’ parents and family and encouraged the Purple Knight community to reach out and connect with friends, relatives and others.
“We are all deeply saddened by this tragedy, and our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Caleb’s family, friends and fellow soldiers as they grieve today and through the coming days and months. The news of his death will have an impact on everyone at our school and local community. The best way we can honor Caleb’s life is to always remember him for who he was a Purple Knight, a friend to many, soldier and a hero, for he will be greatly missed,” said Principal Sean J. Goodwin.
Ernest Collins issued the following statement on behalf of the Collins family on the death of Caleb Collins:
“Caleb died trying to save his friend. He was an excellent soldier, advancing in rank and an encouragement to all he came in contact with.”
