Sanders Earns Book Scholarship
When the Famous ‘G’ Club was established in 1927, it was to “bring about closer social relationships among members and engage in welfare and civic endeavors.” The members also had a mutual interest in contract bridge. While that aspect has faded over the years, members of the Famous ‘G’ Club (the ‘G’ stands for Gentlemen), still take their civic engagement seriously.
The group held its 87th annual Summer Ball in June at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel to celebrate and award scholarships to deserving students with the theme “G Brothers … Together Today, Tomorrow and Always.”
The students receive a Book Scholarship to cover the cost of their books and school supplies. Tyler Sanders, a 2015 graduate of St. Augustine High School, is among the 2015 Book Scholarship recipients recognized by the organization. Tyler will attend Howard University in the fall.
